About Samba Cruz
Samba Cruz brings the sophisticated sounds of Brazilian popular music to the Bay Area, combining bossa nova, samba, MPB and Brazilian jazz in performances that range from intimate and elegant to lively and celebratory.
Based in Santa Cruz, Samba Cruz performs throughout Santa Cruz, Monterey and Silicon Valley, with configurations ranging from an intimate duo to a full quartet.
Led by guitarist and vocalist Pablo Riviere, Samba Cruz brings together experienced Bay Area musicians with a deep appreciation for Brazilian music and its connection to jazz and other musical traditions.
The band's flexible instrumentation allows us to tailor the musical experience to the character and size of each event—from an intimate duo for a dinner or cocktail reception to a full quartet for a concert, festival or celebration.

Flexible Ensemble
Samba Cruz can be presented in a variety of configurations, from an intimate duo to a full quartet. The ensemble's instrumentation is tailored to the character and size of each event.
Led by guitarist and vocalist Pablo Riviere and featuring flutist Vivian Simon, Samba Cruz draws on a roster of experienced Bay Area musicians. This flexible approach allows us to provide the appropriate combination of intimacy, sophistication and rhythmic energy for each occasion.

Intimate bossa nova and Brazilian music for cocktails, dinners and smaller gatherings.
TRIO
Our versatile core configuration, combining guitar/vocals, flute and rhythm section.
QUARTET

The Music
Samba Cruz performs music by and inspired by some of Brazil's most influential composers and artists, including Antônio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Dorival Caymmi, Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso and Elis Regina, alongside original compositions and contemporary Brazilian music.
